Human Events has posted a copy of a letter from Nancy Pelosi and the House Democratic leadership to Democratic members of Congress outlining a “Strategic Communications Plan for August: Health Insurance Reform” for them “to use this month to build support and momentum so [they] can return in September well-positioned to pass a health reform bill in the House.”

The letter includes the following talking points that are “in sync with the White House” and counter “the Republican ‘government takeover’ message”:

• Hold the insurance companies accountable.
• Remove them from between you and your doctor.
• No discrimination for pre-existing conditions.
• No dropping your coverage because you get sick.
• No more job or life decisions made based on loss of coverage.
• No need to change doctors or plans.
• No co-pays for preventive care.
• No excessive out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles, or co-pays.
• No yearly or lifetime cost caps on what insurance companies cover.

How will you respond to these points if your senator or representative raises them?

According to Health Care for America NOW, the following members of Congress from Colorado support their goal, which is government control of health care:

• Representative Jared Polis

The only surprise is that Ed Perlmutter isn’t on the list.

Back in December I started, but didn’t continue, a project to watch Ed Perlmutter, who is my congressman.  I suggested in a post on Dec. 5 that it would be a good idea to “keep an ‘eagle eye’ on what the Democrats in the state, and from the state in Washington, are doing.”  I resurrected this idea in the Colorado SGP group and hope to get some help with this kind of project.  I’ve been doing some research to find sites that we could use to watch the Democrats in Colorado’s Congressional Delegation.

As I wrote before Thanksgiving, I’m disappointed that the blog Ritter Watch isn’t being kept up to date.  I think we, conservatives in Colorado, should keep an “eagle eye” on what the Democrats in the state, and from the state in Washington, are doing.  It could be a great resource for the next election and might help educate voters about liberal philosophy and policy decisions.

There are plenty of bloggers in the Rocky Mountain Alliance 2.0 and listed at Rocky Mountain Right and Face the State who could help track the doings of liberal elected officials in Colorado.

I’m planning to watch Ed Perlmutter, who is my own congressman.
