The [Colorado] Blueprint by Adam Schrager and Rob Witwer

In The Blueprint:  How the Democrats Won Colorado and Why Republicans Everywhere Should Care (Golden, CO:  Speaker’s Corner Books, 2010), Adam Schrager and Rob Witwer explain how “In four short years, Colorado Republicans experienced one of the most stunning reversals of political fortune in American history” (back cover).

Republican leaders, candidates, and campaign managers should probably take time to read the book, but they shouldn’t try to imitate the liberals’ strategy.  Liberal union members will follow orders, but conservatives won’t.  The best conservative response to the attempts by filthy rich Democrats to buy political offices is grassroots efforts like the tea party movement.  We must counter liberal high-tech data collection to spread lies with “high-touch” interactions with family, friends, and neighbors to tell them the truth.

I was disappointed that two people who should know better, a journalist and a lawyer, didn’t bother to properly document the sources of their information.  In addition, they overlooked the rift in the Republican Party that coincided with Democrats’ efforts:  when Republican elites like Bill Owens and Jane Norton supported Referenda C and D.  During that campaign, Owens lied to Colorado voters and about conservative opponents.

Ode to Billy Owens

(Tune: “Billy Boy”)

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
You betrayed your good friend Bob,
Cost the party Campbell’s job.
You’re a RINO*, a traitor to the party.

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
Jon Caldara asked you how
You could break your no-tax vow.
You’re a RINO, a traitor to the party.

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
You endorse the liberals’ plan
To gut TABOR if they can.
You’re a RINO, a traitor to the party.

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
You and Janie crossed the aisle,
Broke the hearts of rank and file.
You’re both RINOs and traitors to the party.

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
Like a liberal, calling names,
Making false, outrageous claims,
You’re a RINO, a traitor to the party.

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
Been in office for so long,
You can’t tell what’s right or wrong.
You’re a RINO, a traitor to the party.

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
Stop your hypocrite’s appeals
To conservative ideals.
You’re a RINO, a traitor to the party.

Oh, what have you done, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
Oh, what have you done, Billy Owens?
With Jane Norton by your side,
You just lied and lied and lied.
You’re both RINOs and traitors to the party.

Precinct Preference Poll Results

In my precinct, which is in Wheat Ridge in Jefferson County, we had eight people show up.  Here are the preference poll results:

Governor

McInnis     5
Maes        3

Senate

Buck         6
Tidwell     1
Wiens      1

I was disappointed that so many people, in my precinct and in the state at large, prefer McInnis–at least for now.  If you think McInnis is a conservative, read this post from December of 2008.

I voted for Wiens, but I could support Buck from what I’ve heard.  I’m just glad no one voted for Norton.  (I did remind everyone that she had supported Referenda C and D.)

Tell the NRSC To Butt Out of Colorado’s Primaries

Rocky Mountain Right, Mount Virtus, Peoples Press Collective, and others have reported that the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NSRC) is supporting Jane Norton, a RINO who supported Referenda C and D, for Colorado’s U.S. Senate race next year and pressuring Ken Buck and Ryan Frazier to withdraw (here, here, and here).

If you want the NRSC to butt out of Colorado’s primaries, join Colorado Petition to NRSC: Just Say No on Facebook, send the NRSC a message on Twitter (@NRSC), call them at (202) 675-6000, or e-mail them at info@nrsc.org.

Republican Candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010

Over at Rocky Mountain Right, you can vote for who you would support for U.S. Senate in 2010.  The options are

  • Scott McInnis
  • Jane Norton
  • Bill Owens
  • John Suthers
  • None of the Above

I voted for None of the Above.  I might be willing to support McInnis or Suthers, but I want to know more about them.

We need conservative candidates from the Republican Party, and by supporting Referenda C and D, Owens caused a lot of people, including me, to question how conservative he is.  Norton is so closely associated with Owens that I wonder how conservative she is, too.

I can’t help thinking that there must be other and better potential candidates.
